Beon Energy Solutions Ultra-Marathon (100km) Teams - 'S&Alfie's'
Story
Now in our third year, Beon Energy Solutions have lined up another team to complete the Surf Coast Century Ultra-Marathon (including over 25kms on sand and 2000m of climbing.. not for the faint hearted or fair weather runner) to raise much needed funds for the Robert Connor Dawes (RCD) Foundation supporting paediatric brain cancer.
Brain cancer still has no cure, kills more children than any other disease and more people under 40 than any other cancer.
In 2019, we have teams comprising of the very best hardened seasoned runners from Beon ES, Citipower & Powercor Australia and Next Generation Electrical including:
Team 1, SAlfies - Scott Russell (leg 1), Steven Neave (leg 2), Peter Hryhorec (leg 3) and Steve Bourke (leg 4)
Team 2, SAlfies Too - Chris King (leg 1), Codie Wills (leg 2), Matt Brassington (leg 3) and Leigh Chivers (leg 4)
Team 3, NextGen SAlfies - Pete Summers (leg 1), Nathan Pope (leg 2), Glen Thomson (leg 3) and Erin Summers (leg 4)
If you are not familiar with the origins of our story, in a cruel twist of fate over the past two years I (Leigh Chivers) lost my wife Sara (34) and son Alfie (2) to brain cancer, a disease with no cure. Sara motivated by the devastating impact of the disease on her future and Alfie's future at only 18 months old wrote a letter reaching millions around the world on the impacts of the disease.

Previous years have been memorable, in 2017 a Beon ES team raised $60k for brain cancer research (Carries Beanies for Brain Cancer) uplifting Sara during her treatment for brain cancer, and in 2018 Beon ES two team raised $30k for Very Special Kids (VSK) supporting children with life-threatening conditions like Alfie's.
Inspired by Sara and Alfie, those suffering from brain cancer and the generous donations received from colleagues, friends and supporters over the past two years we line up again to raise funds to better the outcomes of those that are currently battling brain cancer or will be in the future.
Thank you in advance for all your support.
