Hair for Hope
Hair for Hope
Story
Hi family and friends!
I'm setting out to raise awareness, and funds, by chopping my hair off for a cause that's close to my heart. Any contribution, big or small, will be greatly appreciated.
Why am I doing this?
For my four angel babies – I have lost 4 babies - one at 7 weeks; twins at 18 weeks and 19 weeks; one at 12 weeks. That’s how far along my pregnancies were when I lost my babies.
This is to acknowledge them, and to give something back to the organisation that helped me through my losses, and continue to support families who are going through similar loss.
When I left the hospital (without my twins), I was given a package with two little teddy bears and a plethora of information donated by a family who had been through the same heart breaking experience, through Bears of Hope. There was information for me – support groups, mechanisms for dealing with the grief. And there was information for my family and friends. What NOT to say and just how to be there.
Bears of Hope offer support through group sessions, 24 hour online and phone support. I attended a group session and I found it comforting to be among people who knew. Who understood what it was like to have your life flipped upside down, turned inside out, and try, somehow, to come out of the darkness and move forward, one step at a time.
People don’t talk about miscarriage and still birth. It’s not the easiest topic to discuss, but it is so very common that it should be discussed. Families go through this every day, and all too often they go through it alone and in silence. Why don’t we talk about it? Who are we trying to protect? The parents of the lost baby? The friend who might feel uncomfortable talking about such a heart wrenching experience? I want to talk about it. I want to acknowledge that I have 4 babies in heaven who, for reasons that I’ll never know, were taken from me before their lives even started.
My hair is currently about 60 cm long, from root to end. I intend to chop it in half, or shorter. The picture below shows my hair currently, and how short I intend to cut it:

I thank you so much for your support!
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.
Please feel free to share, share, share on Facebook...
