HONOUR HIS SHORT LIVED LIFE
Jonah Paul Wilson
As the date of what would have been your 21st birthday draws near, l want to let you know what a privilege it was for me to be present at the moment of your birth. You were so small, so perfect, so beautiful.
Being able to hold you Jonah was a gift, if only for a short time. We had one moment. It mattered. We have not forgotten.
October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month and normally Sands run a day where family and friends get to walk the steps their babies never got to walk. This year, due to COVID-19, these walks will look a little different, with many becoming virtual.
In memory of my nephew, Jonah, who would be celebrating his 21st on October 9th, my family have pledged to raise funds for Sands in the hope that in his name others experiencing grief and loss are able to receive support.
Sands is an organisation providing care, support and hope to parents and families following miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death. They provide peer-to-peer support through their national support line, email, live chat and local face-to-face support groups. They also provide support and training to healthcare professionals to improve the quality of care and support bereaved parents receive.
We would really appreciate if you could support us by making a secure online donation and posting a message. We would also ask that you share this page with others as we raise awareness of our babies not forgotten.
Thank you so much for your support in honouring and remembering Jonah
Sands - Miscarriage Stillbirth Newborn Death Support
Each year in Australia, approximately 150,000 couples experience reproductive loss; about 147,000 experience a miscarriage, 1,750 babies are stillborn and about 850 babies die in the first 28 days after birth. For more than 30 years, Sands continues to provide support to all bereaved parents and families who have suffered the death of a baby anytime from conception through to 28 days after birth - this includes miscarriage, neonatal death, stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy and genetic/medically advised termination.
Sands are a self-help support group comprised of parents who have experienced the death of a baby. Sharing with others who have had similar experiences can assist parents to work through the often intense grief which follows the death of a baby.
