22 Days For Rae

Story

In 2011, my father Rae died from oesophageal cancer. He was 68 years old.

Oesophageal cancer doesn't get the attention that other, more common cancers do. But oesophageal cancer is lethal. If you are unlucky enough to have oesophageal cancer, the chance of you living another 5 years is 22%. That's only 6% more than if you played Russian roulette.

With this is mind, I am launching a fundraiser to raise money towards vital research into oesophageal cancer.

For 22 days, I will commit to walking 5km. Every day. Even if it's raining. Or hailing. Or snowing (I have snowshoes). That'll be at least 110km in total.

In turn, you can support me a few different ways:

1) Sponsor me! Every little bit counts.

2) Commit to 22 days for Rae too. Walk 5km every day and ask your friends and family to sponsor you.

3) If you can't do the full 22 days, join me on one of my 22. Walking alone is boring.

4) Pray that I don't get injured. I don't want to walk 5km in a moonboot.

22 days for Rae - Wednesday 15 July to Wednesday 5 August, 2020.
