Story
Hi there!
I’m fundraising in memory of someone very special. My Aunty Cathy (Zia as I liked to call her). Zia was only 45 years old. She was like a second Mum to my sister and I. Anyone that knew my Zia would agree that she was one of the most loving and caring individuals you would ever come across and would honestly do anything for anyone. She had so much more life to live and so much more to give to the world.
At the beginning of last year my family got the heart wrenching news that my Zia had developed Pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive and lethal types of cancers going around and kills on average around 3000 people per year in Australia. We discovered this first hand. As my family and I tried to stay as strong as we could, My Zia was deteriorating by the second. Within a six month turnaround she passed.
Tomorrow marks the 1 year anniversary of my Zias passing and I'm looking to raise some money and awareness for the Pancare Foundation. I want to do as much as I possibly can to contribute towards finding a cure so that In the not so distant future no person or their family's have to go through that type of suffering again.
I will be looking to walk, run, ride (possibly crawl if I have to) the equivalent distance from Mildura to Bendigo (403km) within a month (23rd of August- 23rd of September). Wish me luck!! P.s. Hope your watching up there Zia it's going to be a painful month!
