In loving memory of Paul Wade, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather
In loving memory of Paul Wade, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather
Story
Dad was a good man, who took great joy in his growing family. Even towards the end of his life, he loved his visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brightened his day. Dad didn’t demand from life, but always found the joy in it. We all remember the pleasure he would get, even in his last few months, from the cakes we would bring, or the mischievous pleasure he would get from allowing the rosellas into his room to collect his crumbs!
Born in Homer Street, Earlwood, he grew up in Tempe, having many adventures in Cooks River after (and during) school, even when expressly forbidden by his Mum. He’d recall how when he got out of the water, he would have to empty his pockets of all the little fish – a very different Tempe in those days. These and many other stories he tried to share and document as the dementia began to take hold: growing up in the war with his brothers and sister serving, working on the first Holden, getting the last tram after taking Irene on a date.
Dad was one of 10 siblings, too many of whom lost their stories and their independence to dementia in their later years. We thought this was a fitting cause in memory of Dad, and our beautiful, loving, and entertaining aunts and uncles who were likewise afflicted. Thank you so much for your donation.
