Robert (Bob) Thornton
Story
We have created this page for donations to be made in loving memory of Robert (Bob) Thornton to help in the research of Pancreatic Cancer.
For nearly 2 years Dad suffered from Pancreatic Cancer. Sadly, it was't diagnosed until the late stages. Up until that diagnosis, he spent 12 months bouncing between different Doctors and Specialists, taking scan after scan, test after test, until finally it was identified.
Typically, this disease takes the lives of people very, very fast. To say my Dad was a fighter is an understatement and he outlived every timeline given to him. We were so lucky to be able to have the extra time we had with him, yet it's hard to forget that had he been diagnosed sooner he might still be with us today.
Like it was with Dad, Pancreatic cancer is often overlooked, likely because the study of this disease is under-resourced and under publicized. The AGITG is a clinical trials research group involved in pancreatic cancer research on an international level, and were involved in recent years with the study leading to Abraxane and Gemcitabine, the current standard treatments for Pancreatic Cancer.
In lieu of flowers, etc. please donate to this cause to help support.

It is thanks to the support of the community that we are able to fund vital clinical trials research to improve quality of life and treatment options for GI cancer patients. GI cancers affect the digestive system and includes cancers of the stomach, oesophagus, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, stomach and bowel and anus. Thank you for your support.
