Story
This fundraising page is in memory of Bradley James Phillips and is raising money for Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association.
Brad was born to his Mum, Judy on 25 May 1981. The following year, a little brother, Shane came along and these two little boys became inseparable mates and partners in mischief.
Brad spent a lot of time in hospitals and endured many operations and recoveries while Judy kept vigil. With each operation, Judy knew she could lose her son, but Brad was a fighter and time after time he defied the odds… and the doctors.
Brad didn’t let being in a wheelchair slow him down. He loved basketball and played it to win. He also loved watching the Townsville basketball team and was a devoted supporter. One night in February 2003, coming home in his car from a game, Brad hit a wandering horse on the highway and was killed instantly.
In his nearly 22 years of life, Brad faced painful operations and difficult situations that most people could not possibly understand. We are humbled by his courage. He beat the odds and lived life to the fullest. On the 20th anniversary of his passing, we remember Brad.
