"Gee up for Jilly"
"Gee up for Jilly"
Story
Almost two years ago we lost our Mum/JiJi/Jilly to Parkinson’s Plus. Parkinson’s Plus is a more severe form of Parkinson’s Disease which causes a more rapid decline in function. It was awful watching one of the most capable women we know become so debilitated by this wretched disease all the while knowing there was nothing we could do to change the outcome. If there is a chance that foundations such as ‘Shake it Up’ can improve treatments or ultimately find a cure for Parkinson’s then they have our whole hearted support.
Shake It Up Australia Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2011 and in partnership with The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) promotes and funds Parkinson’s disease research in Australia aimed at better treatments and ideally a cure.
Shake It Up Australia Foundation is the largest non-government funder of Parkinson’s research across multiple institutes in Australia. The Founders of Shake It Up fund all administration costs, (which are kept to a minimum) so 100% of every dollar raised will directly fund research in Australia. All of these research projects compliment and connect worldwide to share the knowledge.

We believe that out of every hardship something positive will arise if you look hard enough. Thus we arrive at nine middle-age, unfit adults who probably drink too much attempting the Kingscliff (‘Kingy’) Tri on the 26th of March 2017. Three teams of three: Ben, Bill and Scott ('The Longshots'); Craig, Brett and Sean (our courageous Kingscliff cousins); Alice, Amanda (Rabs) and Rosemary (the team to beat). It has made us all shed a few kilos and adopt healthier habits albeit until the end of March. In true Jilly spirit some of us have become quite competitive because we all know the Ladies team is going to win!
We are overwhelmed by the support we have received thus far. Thank you! When we first set up our fundraise page Scott (Willow) pledged to wax his legs if we got over $5,000 but now, as an extra incentive, he has offered his thick curly chest hair (ouch) if we make $7000. He is a hairy man and perhaps he underestimated people's generosity because it looks like his fluffiness may be lost.....for a little while anyway. Dayboro Nail Design and Beauty have kindly offered their professional services so let's reach the new target and 'Wax Willow'.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our page. If you wish to support (tax deductable) this wonderful foundation please click on the green DONATE button and follow the prompts.

About Shake It Up
Shake It Up Australia Foundation together with our partner at The Michael J. Fox Foundation are the largest non-government funder of Parkinson's research across multiple institutes in Australia. Founded in 2011 we have funded over $11.5M in research targeted at finding better treatments and ultimately the cure.
The Foundation was established by Clyde Campbell, a father of three and business owner who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2009 at the age of 44.
Clyde set out to find out as much as he could about the disease and determine what he could do in a practical sense to assist. His search led him to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) in the United States and the remarkable work they do to fund medical research targeted at finding better treatments on the path to a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
The approach MJFF takes to assessing, funding and project managing the world’s best research all over the globe eliminates redundancy, ensures efficiency and unites the global community in the quest to find a cure.
Clyde realised that funding Parkinson’s research was the best thing that he could do to help himself, his family and the 100,000 other Australians living with the disease. With that clear in his mind, Clyde founded Shake It Up Australia Foundation (SIUAF) to give other Australians the opportunity to join his quest.
