Ride for Police Legacy Route 66 2017
Ride for Police Legacy Route 66 2017
Story
Thank you for donating to the Route 66 Ride for Police Legacy event.
Police Legacy schemes exist throughout Australia with the primary aim being to perpetuate the memory of those who have been killed on duty, or have died in service. Police Legacy organisations aim to provide assistance and support to members of the wider police family and do so for many years following a death. Typically, the types of activities that Police Legacy undertakes include:
- Financial and personal assistance and support, especially during times of bereavement and significant hardship;
- Support to legatee children throughout their entire schooling life and then assistance moving into employment or tertiary education option;
- Social activities including school holiday camps, Christmas and Easter functions;
- Family assistance with holiday outings and involvement in police functions, and
- Tailored assistance programs depending upon the family make-up and location.
As not-for-profit charitable organisations, Police Legacies rely on the generosity of sponsors, money raised through fundraising and the sale of merchandise, and contributions of police employees via payroll deductions. The more financial Police Legacies can be, the more we can improve our services and support to meet the needs of police families.
This event allows the riders to combine their passion for motorbikes, touring and raising money for a cause they passionately believe in.
Throughout Australia, Police Legacy schemes are providing ongoing financial and personal support to hundreds of young people and their families.
The money raised in this event will go a long way in continuing that support.
Again, thank you.
