In Memory of Joan Duffy
In Memory of Joan Duffy
Story
Joan Duffy passed away peacefully on Saturday, 2nd December, surrounded by her adoring family, aged 89 years, after bravely battling cancer.
Our family are grateful to have received the support of the Monaro Committee for Cancer Research (mcCr) during Nan's treatment. It is due to the dedication of mcCR fundraising that Nan was able to receive chemotherapy closer to home, at the oncology centre at Cooma Hospital, rather than making the weekly trip to Canberra Hospital (a 5-hour round-hour trip from Jindabyne).
In lieu of flowers, our family would appreciate it if you were able to make a donation to mcCr so that they can continue to support families facing a cancer diagnosis across the Monaro region.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly to the Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated.
Funeral details:
The relatives and friends of Joan Duffy are invited to attend her funeral service at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church, Kosciuszko Rd, Jindabyne, on Thursday, 14th December 2023, commencing at 11:00 am.
At the conclusion of the service, the cortege will proceed to Jindabyne Cemetery. Wake to be held at the Jindabyne Bowling & Sports Club.
Thank you,
Taylor-Jayne (granddaughter)
Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated
The Monaro Committee for Cancer Research was formed in 1996 by the daughter of a young Monaro mother who after a 5 year struggle lost her battle with cancer. Since its inception the mcCr has supported cancer outreach services on Snowy Monaro. In 2007 after much lobbying, a local oncology service was introduced to the Cooma Hospital. Local support raised in excess of $100,000 towards this project and today we have a successful outreach oncology service. mcCr is a local voluntary group of dedicated women working towards further cancer support and services for the Snowy Monaro Region.Your support will enable mcCr to continue this assistance for cancer sufferers.
