THE LAP OF HONOUR 2018
THE LAP OF HONOUR 2018
Story
The Lap of Honour
I’m fundraising in memory of someone very special to me and for all those who have suffered from MND.
My niece Tracey was diagnosed with advanced motor neurone disease (MND) in October 2016 and lost her battle on Christmas Eve 2016. The loss of a family member will always be devastating but Tracey’s death to a disease that was virtually unknown to our family made this a very tough period for us all.
After discussing our family’s loss with friends, I realised how many people have sort of heard of MND but knew very little about this disease and how medical research is still a long way from finding a cure.
I had been planning to ride a Harley Davidson trike around Australia with my wife and another couple also on a Harley Davidson trike. We figure the journey will take around 3 months and we expect to ride around 25,000 k/ms.
I thought this would be a great opportunity to raise awareness of MND and raise some much needed funds for research that will help to end this hideous disease.
Please follow us on our adventure as we travel around Australia and download photos of key locations at The Lap of Honour on Facebook.
My goal is to raise $50,000 for MND Australia.
Please support our efforts by making a secure online donation and by posting a message of support.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.
Thanks so much for your support!
Motor Neurone Disease Research Australia
MND Research Australia funds projects led by Australia’s leading MND researchers. By supporting MNDRA you are sparking new discoveries and ideas to defeat MND by funding new research projects that aim to understand the causes, develop effective treatments, and one day find a cure.
It is only with research that the future of MND will change. Together we will defeat MND.
