A Toast for Kristy

Story

On Friday the 4th October our dear friend Kristy Coleman would have celebrated her 30th Birthday.

In order to honour Kristys love of life and her bubbly personality what better way than to donate as a “toast” to Kristy.

You can donate the value of a glass or bottle of bubbles (perhaps of the French varietal if you’re feeling fancy) to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

Any amount that you can donate will go directly to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

On top of that Kate's Amazing Husband Brian Rooney has kindly offered a voucher for 2 nights accommodation at Peppers Guest House in the Hunter Valley including breakfast for 2 for the person who donates the highest amount over the course of this entire campaign.

Happy Birthday Kristy, you will never be forgotten.

A quick re cap for those who are just joining the campaign

We started this fundraising page with a target to raise $700. Within 2 days we reached our goal and set ourselves a target to double it on the condition that if we did, I would run home from work in the Sydney CBD to Rose Bay dressed as a Fairy. So on Friday 4th October I did just that- please see the evidence below:

We started this page with a target to raise $700.00.Within 2 days we reached our target and set ourselves a goal to double it …on the condition that if we did Lauren Watts would run from work in Sydney CBD to Rose Bay, dressed as a fairy. This Friday at 5pm Lauren will be doing just that.

On top of that Kate’s AMAZING husband Brian Rooney has now kindly offered a voucher for 2 night’s accommodation at Peppers Guest House in the Hunter Valley including breakfast for 2 for the person who donates the highest amount over the course of this entire campaign.

Thank you so much for the support we have received so far, we are truly overwhelmed by the generosity demonstrated by the friends and family of Kristys and by people who were touched by her story.

Lots of well wishes xx

Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation

Every ten hours, one woman dies from ovarian cancer in Australia. The key to changing this statistic is early detection.

Ovarian cancer is an insidious disease, often known as a “silent-killer” as symptoms are vague and often strike without warning. Unlike many other cancers there is no early detection test.  Consequently ovarian cancer is often diagnosed in its late stages and only 20%-30% of women will survive beyond five years of diagnosis. In comparison, survival rates increase to 80-100% when ovarian cancer is detected and treated early.

The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation is Australia’s pre-eminent ovarian cancer research body. Our goal is to raise ovarian cancer awareness and vital funds for the development of an early detection test that will save women’s lives.

We receive no government funding and rely on the support of our community and business supporters to assist in driving our research forward.

Together we can raise awareness of ovarian cancer in Australian communities and the importance of developing a detection test that identifies the level of ovarian cancer in a patient and its extent of advancement. A test that can greatly improve long-term survival rates of Australian women.
